Ski amadé gets seal of approval ‘Verified Length of Runs’

The ski region in Salzburg and Styria offers 760 kilometers of runs - which is now confirmed. Ski amadé is the third Austrian ski region to receive the new seal.
Ski amadé is the largest ski region, which has received the seal ‘Verified length of Runs’. Managing Director Christoph Eisinger: "About two years ago we at Ski amadé were one of the first ski regions, which implemented the newly recommended system for measuring lengths of runs, standardized by the Austrian Cable Car Association. We would like to see this measurement method to become a binding standard throughout Europe, so skiers and snowboarders have a transparent and standardized mean of comparison of kilometers of runs for all the ski resorts.”
The absence of such uniform standards has been the reason for Christoph Schrahe, travel journalist and owner of the consulting company Montenius Consult, to launch the seal of approval ‘Verified Length of Runs’. In an article in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung Schrahe had uncovered in January 2013, that many ski resorts cheat about their length of runs.
The new seal ensures consistency: "Skiers who see the seal on the website, in brochures or on the piste map of a ski area, can be sure that the ski area really contains what was written on it lengthwise." Schrahe hopes that the seal will pave the road for more transparency in the industry - in the interests of customers and fair competition among the ski areas.
