Ski Area Management states that 'Size Matters'

The magazine Ski Area Management has always been distinguished by the fact that it is not purely reproducing press releases from industry suppliers but serving its clients with independent, journalistic quality - since 1962. In its September 2016 issue Christoph Schrahe had the chance to inform SAM's readers about a yet untapped marketing treasure that North American ski resorts have: The enormous size of their ski areas in terms of length of runs. Actually the largest North American ski areas can easily compete with the famous interconnected ski resorts in the Alps. But so far they don't tell their potential European customers about it in a way they would be able to understand. Instead they use a figure European skiers are not familiar with, the skiable acres. Using the length of runs in communications could be a chance to gain more market share in Europe.
